Missing Noah Exhibition Opening

This disaster has a name: The 2021 Pacific Northwest floods

The idea for this series of five paintings started last November when I saw a poignant image on Facebook of a bunch of drenched cows being rescued by a good Samaritan on his fishing boat.

In British Columbia, not only the roads were destroyed, the land completely submerged but the animals were drowning.

Some people would float their boats inside the barns and help save the animals. Sometimes, they would drag a swimming cow to dry land, sometimes they would embark a handful of animals in their boats.

Brad Mueller, the man driving the boat on the image I saw, is an electrician from a neighboring town and one of the volunteers who worked day and night to rescue animals from drowning in their pens. He is a Modern Noah to me.
